Pine Wood Derby

The highlight of Malichi's first year in Cub Scouts was the Pine Wood Derby. He worked really hard on his car, doing most of the work himself, with just a little help with the sawing part from Dad. When the big day came, he was so eager to race his car and see how fast it was.

His car raced 4 times, and he got 4th, 4th, 4th, and 3rd place(out of 4 cars racing). Even though his car wasn't the fastest one, he was proud of it, and we were so proud of him too! He just had fun watching his race, and checking out everyone else's car designs. But he does want to figure out how to make it faster for next year!

Here he is with his car, "Speeding Snake" as he named it.

Malichi's new smile!

After 9 months of not eating popcorn, candy bars, and only getting to chew gum once or twice, Malichi got to celebrate getting his braces off by enjoying a big milky way and a pack of gum (which I am pretty sure he chewed all in one day).

Check out his new smile.

I am absolutely amazed at what 9 months of braces can do! Remember his before picture?

My Daisy girl selling cookies.

This year Kinzie started Girl Scouts, and is a Daisy. I was so excited to get her into it, that I was roped into being one of the leaders so we would actually have a troop. But it has been a fun year, and it is something her and I get to do together a couple times a month.

One of the highlights of the year so far has been selling cookies.

We made a troop goal for each girl in our group to sell 50 boxes, and then Kinzie made her own personal goal to sell 80 boxes. I had NO idea what to expect, and to me it seemed like selling 80 boxes would be quite a task.

She practiced her sales pitch, we loaded up our wagon with cookies, bundled up, and headed out in the cold to sell cookies in our neighborhood.

After coming in and warming up with some hot chocolate, she called all our family to take orders from them as well.

I was super impressed; she did amazing. She ended up selling a total of 130 boxes of cookies,(only 12 of which we bought) and well exceeded her goal! She was so proud of herself, and so was I!

Kinzie lost a tooth!

Kinzie finally lost her first tooth...well, that came out on it's own anyway! She has had 3 teeth pulled, and was so excited to have the tooth fairy visit without a dentist visit first!
