Bye Bye Nukies!

It's a new year, and time to break a new habit.

As of Sunday night we took the twins' nuks away. We told them we left them at Grandma and Grandpa's house for baby Micah, and that they were big kids now and didn't need them. It was bittersweet for me. I am so ready for them not to have their nuks anymore, but it was also taking away a piece of their babyhood, reminding me that they are no longer babies anymore, but growing toddlers.

These first few days have been rough without them. Scout cries for hers, but then she'll say "No Scoutie nukie. Scoutie big girl". Finley usually only asks for his if Scout is asking for hers.

As you can see we have quite the stash of them because they each sleep with one in their mouth, and one in their hand to rub on their face, and Scout usually likes to have a couple in her other hand as well.

I will not miss running around the house and dumping out the diaper bag desperately looking for nuks at bedtime.

At this point they are crying themselves to sleep at night without the nuks, and at nap time they are just not even laying down. They are trashing their room instead. Hopefully this doesn't last too long.
